There are different tools that you can use to get your website indexed quicker that just waiting around for Google to find it automatically.
Improving Your Ranking
The more content that your website has the better it has for increasing its ranking in the search engines. You can improve you website ranking by having backlinks to your website. If another website is pointing back to your website as a point of reference, Google will look at this favorably and improve your ranking. Google will assume that a large number of backlinks is proof that your website has valuable content.
Gaining a Following
If you build it, then they will come. This age old adage does not apply to blogging. Just because you created a blog does not mean that you will instantly get thousands of visitors to your website. You have to establish expertise and knowledge that others will respect which will cause them to frequently visit your website. A large number of visitors to your website will increase your rankings. Once you are on the first page of Google then you will see the number of visitors to your site increase dramatically. You can also use social media (twitter, facebook and many others) to attract visitors to your blog.
Making an Income through Blogging
Bloggers are able to generate income by selling products to the visitors to their website. If you have gained expertise through the postings on your blog, then your visitors will be more inclined to purchase from you because they trust you. You can have visitors sign up for your newsletter. This will give you a list of names and allow you to market different products to them. You can sell either physical or digital products (downloadable products) on your website.

It is very simple to start your own blog. It is possible to register a domain name, create a blog and start posting in under an hour. You can write daily posts that can take you less than 15 minutes to write. There are thousands of people in Australia earning a full-time income from the Internet and blogging, but don’t assume its a get rich quick scheme.
