How I created a six figure home based business in 2011
I am often asked how I am able to create successful home business in such a short space of time and so have decided to put together a short article which gives the insider tips, so you can copy my success.
2011 was a fantastic year and because of the time and effort I put in last year 2012 will be even bigger and better. These are the key reasons my home business has been successful:
- I researched my opportunity carefully before making a decision
- I choose a home business opportunity with a solid, reliable company, with fantastic products who provide ongoing help and support to get you up and running quickly
- The business has start up costs, low ongoing costs and therefore little risk
- The business has the ability to earn residual income
- The business has a generous compensation plan
So now I had the foundation for a business which had the potential to be successful, but at this point it was still potential. Many people end up with a business that has lots of potential but never take the steps to realize that potential and that is the key. If you don’t take action, and the right action. you’ll never grow a successful home business.
Having a plan is VITAL
- I created a plan with my goals for the year and the actions I would take to get there
- I then used this to create a weekly plan with smaller goals and a daily to-do list which I tick off as I complete activities
Without the plan I would have lost track, lost focus and at some-point given up. But with my plan I was able to see my progress moving towards my ultimate goal and even on those hard days keep myself on track.
Taking ACTION is the secret
A plan is useful if it just sits there gathering dust. You need to take action to complete the activities on your plan in order to move forward. its easy to get bogged down on routine tasks that don’t earn you any money, so I keep a stack of 10 cent coins on the left side of my desk in the morning. Each time I complete an income producing activity (phone call, email, meeting someone) I move a coin to the other side of my desk. I aim to move all coins over by the end of my day
Connecting with People
Part of my plan was to connect with 3 new people everyday and this was wonderful for my business, but also for my social connections. I met some fantastic people and made connections which have led me down several new avenues which wouldn’t have happened if I didnt get outside of my comfort zone and take to new people everyday. When you get started there are so many places to connect with people – at work, in sporting clubs, at the gym, through friends of friends, through networking events, online using social media.
Helping Other Achieve Success
Once of my focuses last year was to help others achieve success. Because of the way my business opportunity is structured I can spend time working with people to help them achieve their goals and develop a successful business and I earn a % of their income – its a win-win situation for everyone. So I dedicated time to help my team grow on a personal level and improve the results in their business and this was a big part of my success in 2011.
2011 was fantastic, but 2012 will be even bigger and I am looking for a few motivated people who want to start a home based business to join my successful team. The Truth about Work at Home Jobs – where to find them and how to avoid the scams
Lots of people contacting me asking where they can find home based jobs, unfortunately the truth is that not many employers in Australia provide work at home jobs, and those that do tend to be at the senior management levels or professional consulting type jobs.
However this doesnt mean you can’t work at home, it just means you need to think outside the box. There is massive demand right now for freelance writers/workers and virtual assistants. Because of the growth of the internet many people employ people (me included) to write blog posts, do research jobs, put together reports and help with admin tasks. The downside is you are competing against global workers often willing to work for a low hourly rate, but this upside is that you can work for companies all over the world.
How do you find these jobs?
They are advertised in lots of different places, but I recommend taking a look at the top freelancing websites like odesk.com, elance.com and freelance.com. You can view jobs, setup your profile and apply for jobs for free and payments are secure and all done through the website, rather than direct with the employer. You maybe have to do a few lower priced jobs first to establish your reputation and gain feedback, but once you can show you are trustworthy and competent you can start earning a decent income as a freelancer or virtual assistant
How to avoid the scams
Avoid any employer who is asking you to pay to apply or get a job – its probably a scam.
NOTE: There are legitimate job search websites that will charge access to view their jobs, this is okay and will save you time.
